She pulled his bearded face up to look at him. The core of her froze the second she realized his eyes weren’t the eyes she remembered. “What has happened?”

“You’re not supposed to be here. They’re trying to keep you from seeing—remembering too much of this place.” He dropped his starry gaze to her mouth and sealed his lips to hers in the same raw fervent desire they’d always shared. Their tongues dueled in desperate passion. Her needs sparked into a blaze. Strike after lover’s strike her desire soared higher, filling every thought, every emotion in her. His passionate kisses consumed her. Heaven was the closest comparison she had to what she was feeling—total love.

He murmured something about their need to say goodbye, but the heat of his caressing mouth only stirred her ecstasy. It’s been so long since he kissed her like this. An odd pain shot through her body as she tried to recall why their love had changed. The answer was at the tip of her tongue, and she was about to remember when a dark, dense sensation crept into her mind.
