Birthday memories. I have tons from childhood--the new toy, all those presents with paper strewn across the living room. But my more recent birthdays have been quieter. Less wrapping paper and more...something else. Different. Not better, because let's face it those childhood birthdays rocked.
Birthdays now are nights out, weekends away, and lots and lots of birthday wishes phone calls. It's always nice to have your birthday acknowledged!Which makes me think I should add in a birthday into a book.

Inputting a birthday into a story could be an awesome way to develop the characters in the book. Think about it - a birthday is a personal thing. There are memories (from previous birthdays), thoughts/opinions (from traditions to presents etc) and more.

I would add a gift of being stripped slowly, carressed, laid out, oiled lightly, bound by hands of partners and have the woman be the cake that not only has the candles dripping wax (literally and figuratively) on it but also gets eaten/devoured. The candles that do not drip actual wax need to be blown before the fireworks go off. After all, birthdays should be memorable.

After which, we are to meet at a quaint restaurant in the new outfit, maybe with a toy, have a nice dinner and have a dessert to take home. ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory is one birthday when I was 8 or 9 (I think) and my parents let me invite a bunch of people over, including all of my family, and everyone just ran around in the yard, jumped on the trampoline, got in and out of those plastic pools around the yard, ate homemade cake and ice cream that my mom made, and hit the pinata! It was super fun just to be a kid and run around with all of my friends on a great day that involved homemade yummy treats!
