Ella's Birthday Bash #Bloghop
It's Ella Jade's birthday and she's celebrating with a blog hop!
Birthday memories. I have tons from childhood--the new toy, all those presents with paper strewn across the living room. But my more recent birthdays have been quieter. Less wrapping paper and more...something else. Different. Not better, because let's face it those childhood birthdays rocked.
Birthdays now are nights out, weekends away, and lots and lots of birthday wishes phone calls. It's always nice to have your birthday acknowledged!
Which makes me think I should add in a birthday into a book.
I'll choose a random winner at the end of the tour on August 11. (Or thereabouts, if you know anything about me it's that I'm not necessarily on the spot with these kinds of things!)
By leaving a comment, you'll be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to either Amazon or Barnes and Noble, winner's choice. There's a grand prize drawing, too! $100 Amazon or Barnes and Noble (winner's choice) Gift Card. And tons (100+) blog participants, so make sure to literally hop around!
Winner will be announced and contacted by Monday morning. (Both this blog's winner (I hope!) and the grand prize winner!)

Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop
Welcome to the Summer Romance Giveaway! Don't forget to enter the grand prize drawing via the Rafflecopter link below (Kindle Fire and a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate). I'll award a $25 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift card to a random commenter. You can enter through July 21 at 11:59 p.m. so don't dawdle!
The topic? Love of course! And now I have Love is in the air running through my head. (As sung by Colin Firth and Rupert Everett--if you've never seen St. Trinian's, then you're missing something!)
So let's talk romance. What draws you to characters? When I read a romance, I know they're going to get together! (They damn well better!) But what draws the characters together? It's one of my favorite parts of writing: Figuring out what makes people fall in love. Opposites, similarities, old friends, old enemies.
In my opinion, love is indefinable. It's that intangible thread that weaves its way around people to draw them together even when there might not be an obvious reason why they love each other.
For instance, what brings a menage together? How do three people fall in love with each other?

Philip Thornton adored his new bride but found she was frigid in their marriage bed.
Lillian did not know how to ease her fear of the bed until she was freed from her past.
Aria was paid to educate and entice, but what she found was more than she ever dreamed possible.
The Parisian Exposition of 1889...the world is changing and the three of them are caught in its whirl. Philip and Lillian went to Paris to save their marriage and to help Lillian overcome her fears. Aria danced and seduced Lillian, but before Lillian left, Aria found herself seduced, in turn, by the beautiful Englishwoman.
When Philip and Lillian break all the rules and escort Aria around Paris for a week, will it be the beginning of their future? Or will this seductive interlude be nothing more than a dream?

love (even when he tosses you into the pool, fully clothed, in front of
all your friends); children love (like when they clean off the bottom
of their sneakers when you gave them that wipe to clean their hands!)
and pet love (even when the puppy eats too many rawhide pieces and has a
tummy ache).

@ReadingRomances #HappyEndings 5 HEA in a menage
How do you find the logical happy ending for a menage? I write historicals, and while there is a better understanding for people living with each other, when one of them gets married what do you do? How many times can the lonely friend move in with the happy couple?
Money is a good excuse, but how often can that be the reason?
In a contemporary? Forget it, tongues will wag! But it's important for all three people in the menage to find happiness, contentment, and sexual gratification. Traveling, even between apartments or houses, gets old. Fast. They all have to (and want to!) live together.
Once I wanted to make a secret entrance between adjoining townhouses, but I never wrote it in. You have to be inventive! In Seduction of a Proper Lady, I gave one of the heroes the cover story that he'd been horribly injured in the Napoleonic Wars rendering him a eunuch. He lived with the captain and best friend he'd saved, and everyone praised the BFF for taking in the wounded warrior. Of course he didn't have a scratch, but it was a hell of an excuse!
What's a creative way you'd have a menage living together in both an historical and a contemporary?

@ReadingRomances #HappyEndings Day 4 What comes next?
What comes after the Happily Ever After? Do you want to know more? I've always been curious--what happens to our intrepid couple after they find their happy ending?
A series for instance. Couple meets in Book 1, true love, happy ending, cue curtain. But what if there's a Book 2? What if the couple reappears in a second book, do you want to know the minutia of their everyday life? Or has their tale run its course?
Then there are the stories that start after the Happily Ever After. What happens to a favorite story when the couple is separate or broken up? Is their journey back together just as satisfying as their first tale? Or is it too much of the You should have figured this out by now!?
What's your take on that?

@ReadingRomances #HappyEndings 3 Have you ever read...
Have you ever read a romance that didn't have a happy ending? I did and it was awful! I mean to the point I can tell you, years after the fact, the plot in excruciating detail. To me, the entire point of a romance is the Happy Ever After at the end of the book. You stick with the hero and heroine through thick and thin, sex and black moments, and at the end they're supposed to be happy together, ride into the sunset, etc., etc., etc.
Right?
I really wish I could wipe the entire experience from my mind, frankly.
Without giving away the author (I'm only partly sure about it anyway) or the title (forget it, I suck at remembering titles!) the basic plot over a 2 book arc involved the woman, falling in love with the hero, leaving Ireland during the late 1800s for America. Happily Every After in book one, sweet! Grabbed book 2 and after all this time (it's been years!) I can't remember if I grabbed it without reading the blurb or I did so assuming the second book was about the hero's best friend and his romance.
Oh, it was alright! Hero from book 1 died in the first page! Yet somehow, for reasons I have forever regretted, I continued reading. To be fair, there was no Internet then, not like now, and no place to research this book before I spent money on it.
Sure, book 1 had a HEA but the author completely ruined it with book 2 and killing off the hero to have the heroine marry the BF and live Happily Ever After with him. NOT the story I signed up to read!
Have you ever been tricked like that? Read a book with what you thought was going to be a happy ending only to discover it wasn't?
Right?

@ReadingRomances #HEGiveaway Day 2 Black moments and Sweet endings
Everyone craves Happily Ever Afters. But what makes that happy ending even sweeter is when you emerge from some of the blackest moments. Some of those black moments have been so successful that they've become cliche.
And yet, many times we'll find ourselves at the edge of our seat wondering--will the emergency paddles work with the person who's been dead on the floor? Will the hero rescue the heroine before the Amtrak train barrels down on her?
We've all seen these cliches but still wonder, hope, and are riveted by the question. Until that sweet release happens and Happily Ever After is achieved.
Yes, yes, in every romance novel these cliches exist. But there are still writers who twist those cliches, or who use them in a way that makes you forget they are cliched. Once in a while you can find a gem of a black moment that isn't yet overdone. And you think--damn. That works!
Some of my personal favorite black moments are character choices. Will the character's issues prevent them from seeking out the companionship and love of the hero or heroine? I often find myself engrossed in a particular situation, and the one that often grabs my attention are those combining character development and character driven stories with a workable and significant suspense moment.
Menage romances are the same--all characters have to find peace and happiness. That's not to say it has to be in the same chapter and everything is wrapped up with a neat bow-presto! No, it means that their growth up to and including the black moment has to be about three people, not just two. It's not harder (all black moments are hard!), it simply needs a different mindset.
For instance, in a menage, the characters need to understand and accept all the ramifications from being involved with not one lover but two. The looks, the whispers, the never fully coming clean about who's involved with whom. (I'm talking historicals and even contemporaries, not futuristic or other worlds.)
What do you all think? What's your favorite black moment? Do you always engage in cliche? Are you more apt to be deeply satisfied with character issues?

#HEGIVEAWAY Day 1: Why Happily Ever After?
Happily Ever After. It's talked about all the time. Romance books are all about the happy ending. What makes us want that? I write romance and therefore love me a good happy ending, and I'm certainly not alone. Even non-romance readers want a satisfying and 'happy' ending. (Except those literary type people.)
Menage romance is no different. All participants must fall in love, and that's even more fun because how do you get 3 (or more!) people to fall in love with each other? In Seduction of my Proper Wife: A Victorian Menage at the Parisian Exposition, Philip and Lillian already loved each other--there were other problems, and Aria was never supposed to be part of their marriage. And yet.
So let's talk about Happy Endings...
A quick internet search of "Happily Ever After" reveals everything from a no-kill animal shelter to a tattoo parlor to several dating sites. Even USA Today has a page called that dedicated to romance books.
Is it because we want to see a couple that has worked so hard to be together actually together? The fact that love can conquer all, it's just a matter of finding it and holding onto it?
In April of 2009 BBC News had this to say in their article Why the obsession with happy endings? I copied the pertinent parts here, but the entire article is a quick and very interesting read. Read some of the comments, too--they're worth it.
What about you? Do you only read romances to ensure a happy ending? Do you like movies with happy endings better than ones that don't have a happy resolution. I'm not even talking romance, but say The Avengers. If they'd all died and Loki won that certainly doesn't make for a happy ending. So what is it that drives us to the happily ever after?

In troubled times there are plenty of people who want happy endings - an matter perhaps recognised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, last week, when he cautioned God will not intervene in climate change to supply a happy ending.
Go back to the 1930s, particularly to films of that era, and you see the process of "happyendingification" in full flow during a time of grinding poverty and uncertainty about the future.
Of course, the theory can be undermined by examples of happyendingification from every decade, whether times were grim or not.
You can even take it back to classical times. We may think of Greek drama in terms of the unrelenting tragedy of Oedipus Rex or Medea. But even the Greeks expected a happy ending, says Alan Sommerstein, professor of Greek at Nottingham University.
But there are always some who regard the process of happyendingification as fundamentally crass, a sign of the excessive commercialisation of the concept of story, of pandering to our weaker side.
Aristotle wasn't happy when, a couple of generations after the passing of the classic tragedy playwrights, he sensed that the plays were getting a bit more unthinkingly jolly.
What about you? Do you only read romances to ensure a happy ending? Do you like movies with happy endings better than ones that don't have a happy resolution. All about...questions, answers, and new stories!
What is the working title of your
book?
The Half-Breed Earl: An Edwardian Ménage...as you can tell, it's only a working title!
Where did the idea come from for the book?
My main male character is a half-English and half-Haitian heir to an earldom. I wanted to do something a little different for this story and thought introducing a half Haitian hero would be interesting and fun. During the Edwardian era prejudices were still alive and well and I want to use that as a part of my story.
What genre does your book fall under?
Historical erotic romance. Specifically Edwardian Ménage Romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Assuming they'd ever make an Edwardian ménage romance into a movie...
LL Cool J for Tristan Harton, Earl of Westhope
Kate Beckinsale for Lady Adelle Brockton
Piper Perabo for Miss Cassandra Saxon Collingmore
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? (I admit, I did 2 sentences!)
The carefree Earl of Westhope must marry to ensure the line, but has decided to enjoy life instead; when he meets two intriguing young women he realizes he's met his match. But when events alter all their lives, things turn far more serious than even Westhope could have imagined.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
This one I plan to submit to an e-publisher.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of
your manuscript?
The holidays came and interfered with my writing schedule. That and I'm really moving along with another WIP and feel the need to finish that one. I'm still working on Half-Breed Earl (I need a better title!) but hope to finish it by mid-January. I did have an idea on how to fix chapters 1 and 2 but need the time and quiet to do so!
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
An Edwardian Ménage Romance? Downton Abbey meets erotic romance. Any historical menage romance + any historical soap opera.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My utter love of Downton Abbey and my utter love of ménage romance. Combine the 2 and it's sure to be explosive! Or at least have mind-blowing sex and a dramatic plot.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

My plot outline includes as much drama from the Edwardian era as I could manage to put in. Plus it has a biracial hero in a time when that would have never happened. Mix in a sexy threesome, a revenge plot, a stalker, and hot monkey sex, and you have a delicious mix of costume drama and ménage sex.
I was supposed to tag at least 5 people to continued the hop but no one volunteered! Sooo...if you'd like to continue the Next Big Thing Blog Hop and post your answer to these questions, let me know!

She’d held onto so much hope for this date, and nothing had gone right. She still didn’t know who this guy was. Yet, he’d already rejected her with his expression. This is the last date I’m going on, unless I’m lucky enough for my hair to grow back.
His gaze never left her, making her even more humiliated. “You’re….”
“What? Ugly? Bald?”
He shook his head. “No, I was going to say my date. I’ve been so busy lately and Madame Evangeline had to send me a reminder.”
She paused at the Frenchwoman’s name. Could this hunk of a man really be her date? Didn’t matter. He wouldn’t want her now. “Well, surprise! I’m damaged goods, so you might as well leave and ask her for a refund.”
As she slumped to the floor, more tears streamed down her face. Why is life so unfair? She’d worked hard all of her life, never taking shortcuts or the easy way out. Not an outcast or popular, she’d been friends with everyone in school and college. And healthy. She’d taken extra care to eat properly in order to avoid being diagnosed with diabetes, like her parents.
Since that fateful day when she’d discovered her two, oval-shaped bald patches, she’d been dumped by her fiancé and lost all of her hair, along with any chance to find love and have a family vanishing. Kids were out of the question. Sure, their chances of inheriting alopecia were unlikely, but on the chance they did, they’d hate her for passing her faulty genetics on to them. She couldn’t live with that. She’d be alone. Forever.

Her intensity excited him, but he needed to find a way to keep her calm. She refused to look into his eyes. His mouth crashed down on hers, absorbing her next words. She objected at first, but then her tongue reached out to him, a passionate gesture unheard of on Ginnun.
He matched the force of her kiss and skimmed his hands down her arms to rest on her sides near her breasts. She no longer struggled. Her arms wrapped around him, keeping him close. When she released his mouth to take a breath, he sat up. She panted underneath him.
“That was incredible. I….I felt like I was flying through space. So many colors and the brightest stars.”
He experienced something different. With that kiss, he had finally found someone who could keep him grounded on Earth and repress any regret for not returning to Ginnun. He brushed his thumb along her cheekbone. “I’d like to continue if you’ll let me.” He leaned down and placed light kisses across her face.
A sigh escaped her lips and the last of her tight muscles relaxed underneath him. He slid his body down her legs, his hands returning to her belly.
“I thought you were going to continue something else,” she whispered.
His cock pressed against his pants already. Her sudden interest in sex made it painful. “I want to, but I need to finish giving you this gift.”
Her body moved but she didn’t struggle or try to get away. “What exactly are you doing to me? What is this gift? Why was my stomach glowing?”
He took in a deep breath and released it a little faster and louder than he’d wanted. He knew the answer would lead to more questions. While prepared to answer them, he didn’t want to scare her away. His response required carefully chosen words to ensure he gave her the gift before he told her of his origins.
“I’m healing you.” The blue glow returned across her belly as his hands warmed. “You’ll be able to have a child when I am finished.”
Her eyes widened. He sensed her fear, but she didn’t move. “Your child?”
“No, I am not giving you a child. That can only be done in the usual ways. I am simply making your body able to become pregnant and carry a child.”
Carrie propped herself up on her elbows. Her eyes stared down at her belly, but she remained calm. “How? No doctor could do that for me. How can you? Are you some type of voodoo priest or something?”
“No.” He needed to continue and keep his heritage from her for as long as possible.
“A religious fanatic who thinks I’m possessed by demons?”
Frey laughed. “Nope.” He was almost finished. Just a little longer. The scarring had all returned to normal, healthy tissue. He only needed to stimulate the maturation and release of eggs in her ovaries.
“How then? I know you’re doing something to me. I can feel it.”
“Remember how I said I needed an open-minded partner?”
She nodded, her eyes catching a quick glance from his before returning to her stomach.
Just a couple more minutes and he’d be finished. He prepared to hold her down should she freak out when he told her he came from space. “I’m not exactly like you and most of the people on Earth. I’m….different.”
“Like a demon or a guardian angel?”
He laughed. It sounded forced, but he needed to stay focused on healing Carrie rather than mating with her. “No, you’re thinking paranormal. Try science fiction.”
She began to squirm under him, but he didn’t need to restrain her. “A….clone? Artificial intelligence?”
He finished healing her and lay down beside her. His thumb ran across her lips, wanting to taste them again, but knowing he probably wouldn’t. “Try alien.”

“Let’s hit the dance floor.” The drinks could wait. She wouldn’t let her guest out of her sight again.
The music thrummed, filling her to the core, preventing her from standing still. She found a spot with just enough room for the two of them. No one else mattered. With each hit of the bass, she moved her feet, her hips, her hands. She let the beat control her body and her heart.
Although others might be watching, her attention remained on Jewel. Each movement, a planned seduction. She couldn’t let her go without trying. When the next song began, Jewel finally relaxed. She moved to the music.
And V moved closer. She slid her hand from Jewel’s waist, down, then back up, swaying in front of her. Only an inch between them. She couldn’t get enough. Her Earth scent became intoxicating.
Beat after beat, song after song, she kept her hands on the sexy woman. She claimed her, telling everyone else to stay away. She wanted to savor her precious body. Maybe she could make her forget about her date.
She pulled Jewel even closer, her sensitive nipples pressed against the woman she desired. Holding her with both hands, grinding against her to the music. Her heart raced with hunger. I want to take her on the floor. Right here. Right now.
But the song changed. The beat slowed, indicating last call. The club would close soon.
Most of the patrons had left. Only those hoping to hook up remained. She stepped back. Jewel would have to make the first move. V could never force herself on anyone.
When Jewel took her hands and placed them back on her body, she couldn’t help but smile. Perhaps the evening would end the way she wanted.
Jewel pressed against her, her head resting on her shoulder, swaying to the decelerated beat. “I don’t want this night to end.”
Their dancing became deliberate, a sensuous and intimate rhythm. “It doesn’t have to.”
Jewel stopped and looked up at her. “You…you’re interested?”
“Why wouldn’t I be? You’re the most beautiful creature in the space station.”
Somehow, she had to make her see. She brushed her thumb across her lips, wanting to touch more, her entire luscious body. Taking a deep breath, V steadied herself. If this were to go any further, Jewel needed to show her own intentions. As warm moisture pooled between her thighs, V schooled herself to patience.
“Are you sure you’re not my date?”
Shit! That damn date, the only wedge between them. “No, but I wish I was.”
“I wish you were, too.” Jewel stood on the tips of her toes and claimed her mouth.
V pulled her closer until the bit of space between them had been filled. Excited by the warm, curvaceous body pressed against her taut nipples, she fed from the sweetness of Jewel’s mouth, drawing out each delicious sweep. But she wanted more. She wanted all of her.

She had her eyes closed, her lips pressed against his, when the sensation started. First, a tingling in her hands and feet, as he swept his digits deep inside her. The buzz spread up her arms and legs until it engulfed her entire body. She no longer sensed the ground below her.
The man continued to drive his fingers into her core with vigor, ridding her of the urge to pull away and find out what was happening to her. She landed with a thud, feeling returning to her limbs. Nothing stopped the man who held her, though. He continued to ravage her mouth, her jaw, her neck, keeping her pressed against the wall.
But something felt different. Gone was the hard brick pressing through her corset and against her skin. She reached behind to brush her hand along the surface. Soft. Almost like cushioned satin.
With a whimper, she pushed the strange man away. Where was she? What had she been thinking? This is the stupidest, most insane thing I’ve ever done.
The Prince Charming she’d had the fortune of being set up with peered down at her, his gaze intense and filled with lust. “My name is Galan, and we’re in my spaceship.”
At least she now knew his name, but wait…. Spaceship? She stared at the man, disillusioned. She could think of no other explanation for how they had traveled to a new location with the press of a button. Oh God, she’d been abducted by an alien. How would she get out of this situation? The first time she’d done something spur-of-the-moment, and she’d ended up being finger-fucked by an extraterrestrial.
Or was this some kind of elaborate stunt Josh had pulled off? But why? He was on his honeymoon, unable to enjoy his handiwork. Her body grew numb; a loud ringing pierced her eardrums. She could no longer think with the clouds invading her mind. Then she blacked out.

Jared shucked his towel and stroked his rigid cock. That woman made him hard every time she came to the door, trying to persuade him to sign up for the Space Service. Her claims had seemed far-fetched when she’d first approached him, yet his commander had confirmed her credentials, having been approached to join by another many years ago. While Jared would never add his thumbprint to the contract he’d read, he wouldn’t mind if she stopped by to try and convince him again.
Ms. Brown, with her black blazer revealing a hint of cleavage and a skirt that showed the perfect curvature of her ass. When he’d answered the door fresh out of the shower and seen her on his porch, he’d gripped the door handle to hold himself back from yanking her inside and tearing off her fine-pressed suit.
He squeezed his balls; no time to jack-off. Dylan and Madison would arrive in an hour, and he had to take one last run through his house to get rid of any lingering dust bunnies before Children’s Services appeared. No obvious dirt in the living room, he headed toward the kitchen, but his mind kept flying back to Ms. Brown.
She had the whole librarian thing going on, with her dark hair tied up in a bun and glasses resting on the end of her nose. Though, none of the women who worked at the local branch made his cock throb. Perhaps there was some truth to the naughty librarian tale. He wished.
Most women’s version of naughty did not come close to his. While the whole BDSM club scene didn’t appeal to him, he enjoyed a little bondage during foreplay. He’d spent months at a time deployed in the Middle East. While home, he appreciated the opportunity to date the pretty women who found a guy in uniform sexy. But once he fetched the cuffs, they bolted. They hadn’t even wanted to use them on him.
Ms. Brown was no girl, though. No more than a couple years his senior, she exuded experience with her seductive glances, her posture that plunged her cleavage into his line of sight, and that damn wiggle of her ass as she sashayed back to her car. She could teach him a thing or two. He yearned for the chance to find out.
No, his next lay could no longer be at the forefront of his mind. In less than an hour, he would become the father-figure to two impressionable young children. His sexual urges would have to take leave for the foreseeable future.
He’d been in his last month of deployment to Afghanistan when the call came in. And it took another day for his commander to reach him with the news. His brother-in-law had been killed in a car accident, leaving his niece and nephew orphans. And as much as he loved the Marine Corps—Semper Fi—he couldn’t let the kids be raised by strangers. They had no other family left.
So, after he returned to the States, he contacted his lawyer and spent a couple of weeks obtaining guardianship of the children. He’d received his discharge papers, found a civilian position working as a desk jockey for the CIA through his contacts with the Marines, and bought a house suitable to raise two growing youngsters. After months of preparation, they were coming to live with him.
He glanced at his watch. Ten minutes until they arrived.

Shit! He’d wasted precious time thinking about Ms. Brown and his new life.
Grabbing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, he yanked them on. Screw the boxers; his niece and nephew wouldn’t notice. He peeked into their rooms to ensure they looked somewhat presentable. Would Children’s Services take them back to California if his new living space didn’t meet their standards?
He groaned. They weren’t even at his house yet, and he’d been distracted. No more. Nothing would come before them. The children would be his priority. Everything he did would be for them, for the rest of his life.

Meditation, #Goals, and Seduction of my Proper Wife
To start off this week, today I'll be at The Menagerie Authors today talking about Seduction of my Proper Wife: A Victorian Menage at the Parisian Exposition. Stop on by and join the discussion!
December, the time of Christmas, end of year stuff, slight panic, and a time to meditate. Yes, I really did say meditate. Why? Because of all the months to start taking time for yourself, don't you think this is the month to do so? Face it, even if you don't celebrate Christmas it's the rush of all things ending. Not that January 1 feels all that different from December 31 but it's the mental attitude of it all.
So this month I want you to find a spot where no one will talk to you for at least 90 seconds in a row. (I can wait, I know 90 seconds is a lot during the day!) Sit straight, feel flat on the floor, hands on your thighs, close your eyes, and breathe.
It may not seem like much but that time for yourself, when you breathe in and hold it then breathe out, breathe in and out slowly. Each and every breath you filling your lungs, and that is really good for you. Meditation apparently keeps Goldie Hawn young (and face it, she looks fantastic!) Meditation keeps you focused and centered and if that minute and a half is all you take for yourself in a single day, at least you have that time and your body will thank you!
Now that you've relaxed for nearly two solid minutes, what do you plan to do with your month? Make new year's goals and resolutions? Shop? Wrap? Get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season? Take another minute (30 seconds if you have to) and relax.
This month I plan to finish Wicked Seduction, the second in my Victorian Menage series, and work more on the Edwardian menage. You can read more about that one on Wednesday when I'll talk about it for the Next Big Thing Blog Hop!
Want to join in? Just email me and I'll send you the questions!

#WickedRomanceGIVEAWAY Low-Fat Lemon Blueberry Scones
I spent considerable time pursuing the web for a low-fat, low-calorie cookie/cake/dessert I could make for next week's Halloween party at work. It's not the lowest recipe, but it sure sounds delicious! Will let you all know next week when I make the scones.
(Low Fat!) Lemon Blueberry Scones |
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup white flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons raw sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
- zest of one lemon
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup plain non fat Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup non fat milk
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Combine flours, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl and whisk together.
- Slice butter and drop into dry ingredients.
- Cut the butter into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter, fork, or use a food processor.
- Toss blueberries in one tablespoon flour. Stir to coat.
- Add blueberries and lemon zest and gently stir.
- Gently mix in milk and yogurt. Use your hands to work the dough into a ball, working quickly to avoid melting the butter.
- Form dough into a disc about 7" across. Cut into 6-10 triangles.
- Separate slices and place on a prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk egg. Brush tops of scones with egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until light brown.
Ok, yes, the scones aren't very wicked, so how about a glimpse from Wickedly Wanton?

Her shift lay on the floor, torn beyond repair. With a shrug, Sabine walked back to the bed, oddly comfortable with her nudeness, and found Faith’s shift.
Her friend was still asleep—arms thrown wide, naked legs open slightly, the remnants of chocolate, heavy cream, and strawberries on her skin. Licking her lips at the memory of Faith’s juices and strawberry, Sabine slipped the shift over her head. Taking a moment, she studied Faith.
Until that day by the stream, she had never thought of her friend as anything other than that. Certainly not a lover. And certainly not a woman who wanted her. Though she was sore, Sabine felt herself growing wet at the memories of Faith’s lips on her, tasting her most intimate secrets.
Lord Severn had ordered Faith to do things—kneel before Sabine, kiss her—but had not touched her. No, even as he watched Sabine kiss Faith’s chocolate-and-cream-covered breasts, he had reserved that solely for her.
Leaving Faith to her sleep, Sabine silently exited the room. She wanted to know where Lord Severn was, when he had slipped from the bed, and why.

Cooper’s strong arms wrapped around her and pulled her tight to his body. She could feel his cock hard against her hip and Nikki shuddered, nestling herself against him. Leaning her head on his shoulder, she closed her eyes and breathed deeply of Cooper—the musky scent of him, ranch and man. His mouth kissed down her neck, teeth nipping on that spot just behind her ear, the one that made her moan.

Cursed Love: A Wicked Demon Tale

Coming soon...
Like a moth to the preverbal flame, she
couldn’t leave. Under any other circumstance, Nikki knew she’d never leave him.
She kept postponing the day when she’d pack her meager possessions and
disappear into the night. She always wanted just one more night.
Just one more night.
Just one more night.

“I knew you weren’t in my bed,” he said,
voice husky from sleep. “I missed you.”
Smiling, Nikki tilted her head to look
up at him, pressing her lips to the underside of his jaw. She felt safe in
Cooper’s arms; he kept the demon at bay.
