And I have very little clue how to work it. It's called Triberr. TWO Rs for those counting.
This was yesterday. I've barely looked around it, have no real idea what is involved, and have seemingly been locked out of the account.
For clarification, I don't blame Tribber. The developer emailed me a couple times to help me through this, but since I tried to log in at exactly the wrong time (during that one key second of the final install of an upgrade) it messed everything up.
I'm excited to start using Tribber, but will patiently wait for everything to be sorted out. I have every confidence it will happen shortly. But until then, I'll use twitter as I always have. Or have for the last month + I've been on Twitter.
Until then, if you want to know more, try here and here. One warning: There's a lot of white space between the top banner and the content. Don't know why, it took me a while to realize the page loaded correctly.

Social networking
I did it. Broke down and made a Twitter account. @kristabelreed for those looking. It's hard keeping up with blog, facebook, AND twitter, but the social networks have made it easier. They've connected each other, or made it possible to connect my networks. Whatever.
So my Twitter posts show up on my Facebook account, my Blog posts pop up on both Twitter and Facebook (I think...) Did I miss a connection? Probably but it doesn't matter, they're all everywhere. As far as I know.
Is this a good thing or a bad one? I can't tell, but I've met some great people on all three of these outlets, have found wonderful authors and their stories, and have made myself known. And isn't that the point of it all?

Social Networking
Two weeks ago I almost cancelled my facebook account. I never used it, I didn't know anyone on there despite the 'friends' I had. I never talked with anyone or chatted with them, posted on their posts or had anyone comment on mine. What was the use? I was going to cancel and be done with it. I had other things to spend my time on.
I didn't, I waited, and I changed my mind.
It wasn't anyone else's fault by my own. I didn't interact with anyone on facebook, so naturally no one would interact with me. As with most things in life, social networking is a two way street. Hence the terms SOCIAL and NETWORKING.
I have since rectified that and am don gmy best to post regularly and comment on other's posts. It's not always as easy as it sounds, but it's progress. And that seems to be what this week is all about!

Social Netowrking: Commenting on blogs
There's a very good reason as to why I don't often comment on blogs. It's not that I don't read them, I follow many (entirely too many) blogs and try to read at least the blurb every day. But only about 5% of the time do I click to read more.
Why?
- No time in the morning to read them and many aren't updated that early anyway. But, if you schedule your post to go live at 6AM or earlier, then I'll be there. :)
- No time at night to do more than skim the blurb Blogger so helpfully provides. Once I get home, make dinner, deal with the day's crisis, walk the dog, and whatever else I have to do, I write. Getting at least an hour of writing time in per day is extremely important to me. Of course I'm not the only writer with this problem, but I've yet to juggle it all into a workable juggling act.
- Do I write? Or do I make online friends? Difficult choice.
- When I do manage to sneak online at work, the graphics (pictures, covers, etc.) are entirely too graphic for my workplace. Getting on at lunch is one thing--getting on with a bunch of mostly naked people in various positions is another. I keep my professional and home lives very very separate from what I write and read.

Facebook-again
Posted the badge on my blog.
Did what they told me to do.
Got it there with my name.
And the big question mark and blankness of it all.
Anyone know how to fix that?

Facebook:The Final Installment
By no stretch of the imagination do I consider myself a Luddite. I adore technology and consider it an essential part of my life. One that has indeed made my life easier. Laundry by a lake with a rock? You are out of your mind. Writing letters with pen and paper? Can be done but I prefer my fingers flying over the typewriter.
I've done it. I've created a Facebook fan page. It's my understanding that a fan page is different from a regular page. I don't know how, but it sounded easier. Or I could be deluding myself. Probably the latter.
Now my only quesiton is: What's the URL for my page?

To Facebook or not to Facebook part 3
How little I know about Facebook. Apparently they have an ad section similar to google ad words. Pay per click a friend tells me. But is it worth it? And what's the difference between a regular page and a fan page? Other than the terms?
More research is required me thinks...
Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Facebook part 2
And now I feel really out of the loop. Last week a friend emailed me this article. It's about a 103 year old woman who uses facebook to keep in touch with friends and family. Once it got out that she was the oldest person on facebook, she received over 1000 friend requests.
If 103 year old woman who has seen everything from World War I to the invention of televisions, the first man on the moon, and the internet can facebook, then I should probably as well.
Does it count as peer pressure when she's several generations older than I am?

Ms Lowe is thought to have become the oldest person among Facebook's 500m users following the death of 104-year-old Ivy Bean, from Bradford, in July.
"I use it just for amusement really. I'm only a beginner. I do enjoy it, very much."
She said that someone her age would need "an active brain" to use the social network site.
The friends requests began pouring in when her activity on Facebook won widespread publicity.
She said she has heard of Twitter but does not know what it is.
She said: "We've had messages from all over the world. I'd like to say thank you very much".

To Facebook or not to facebook
That is the dilemma. I know I could find everyone I ever went to high school with and their mother and possible her mother on there, but I really have no desire to relive high school. :shudder:
And yes, I know I could use it as a marketing tool to promote myself. But so do a thousand other authors.
Yup, could even get to know some of those thousand other authors, and while I like friends (in person and virtual) no.
Aside from the time constraint, Facebook has so many security issues it's not even funny-at least oce a month I read something new. Then last week I hear Mark Zuckerberg was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year? They must have been short of candidates.
What to do, what to do. To Facebook or not to Facebook. That is the dilemma.

Jumping into the wide world
In my case I mean facebook, myspace (is that still around?), twitter, etc. I have a blog, isn't that enough? A couple friends think I should expand, but clearly I can't even update this every day. All that other stuff? I'll never get anything done!
How do you all do it? How do you keep up with all this social networking AND manage to write, have a life, sleep, eat? How do you survive?
